CEO resigns no later than 30 September 2015
Bergen Group ASA and Asle Solheim have agreed upon Asle Solheim’s resignation as CEO no later than 30 September 2015.
Bergen Group ASA and Asle Solheim have agreed upon Asle Solheim’s resignation as CEO no later than 30 September 2015. The process of recruiting new CEO will be coordinated with the ongoing strategic processes for the Group. Solheim will be available for Bergen Group throughout 2015 in order to ensure adequate continuity.
Asle Solheim took position as CEO of Bergen Group ASA in May 2013. The group has since then completed substantial structural changes, including the sale of the shipbuilding division last year and sale of the rig service activity at Hanøytangen this spring.
“These extensive changes have made necessary a strategic and operational assessment of the future corporate structure. In that context, it is rational for the Board to be free to also evaluate the CEO-position as a part of this process”, chairman Tor Lars Onarheim in Bergen Group ASA explains.
The chairman of Bergen Group ASA would like to thank Asle Solheim for leading the group through a very challenging period. Although Solheim resign as CEO before the end of September, he will be available for the Group until year end.
Asle Solheim believes that Bergen Group has a strong platform that provides basis for a profitable growth in the coming years.
“When I was appointed CEO two years ago, it was partly to strengthen the focus on a new offshore related growth based on the established industrial area on Hanøytangen. Now the conditions for further growth have changed substantially. I therefore find it appropriate that the Board on a free basis also evaluate the management resources when defining the future strategy for the Group”, says Asle Solheim.
